Understanding Your Vision

Every project at Tom Curren Companies starts with a detailed phone consultation. During this call, we’ll ask about your project location,  goals, timeline, expectations, and any special needs or concerns that might shape the scope of work. This allows us to start building a clear understanding of what you’re looking for and whether we’re the right fit to help you get there. 

We pride ourselves on being transparent and respectful of your time, so if we feel your project doesn’t align with our services, scope, or availability, we’ll let you know early on and, when possible, recommend an alternative option for you. If we’re aligned, we’ll schedule your in-home consultation and pair you with a Project Consultant who’s well-suited to guide you through the process.

The Measure Call

Our in-home consultation begins with a conversation. We take time to get to know you, your home, and what matters most to you. We’ll ask about your lifestyle, your goals for the space, what you like, and what you don't. This helps us understand the "why" behind your project, so we can offer thoughtful, personalized guidance from the start.

From there, we take measurements, photos, and notes to document the existing conditions, and we’ll review your desired timeline, investment range, and any constraints or concerns. This visit helps us fully understand the space and determine if the project is the right fit for both you and our team. If it is, we’ll move forward clearly and confidently; if not, we’ll be upfront and guide you accordingly.

Presenting Your Project Plan

After we’ve had time to review your project internally and evaluate everything we learned during the in-home consultation, we return to walk you through a comprehensive proposal. 

 

If your project is straightforward and all key decisions like materials and layout are finalized, we’ll present a contract that clearly outlines the scope of work, inclusions and exclusions, and transparent pricing for your review and approval.

For more complex remodels or projects that require additional time, exploration, or decision-making, such as layout changes, specialty materials, or permitting, we’ll introduce a Design Agreement. This next step allows us to work collaboratively with you to refine the design, make key selections, and coordinate any necessary site visits or evaluations, all to make well-informed decisions together before moving forward with a finalized contract.

Laying the Groundwork

In this phase, we guide you through finalizing layouts, selecting materials and finishes, and making key design decisions that align with your goals and budget.

Our team coordinates on-site visits with specialty trade partners like electricians, plumbers, or any other necessary trade partners to assess existing conditions and provide technical input. This helps us gather accurate pricing and, as best we can, avoid surprises later.

By the end of the Design Agreement phase, you’ll have a clear plan, all selections made, and a final construction contract ready to go.

Laying the Groundwork

Once a contract is signed, our team reviews the project again in detail and confirms any outstanding details. We schedule re-measurements for specialty or custom items, and begin applying for any necessary permits. This ensures everything is in place before we move forward with ordering materials and building the project timeline.

We track all lead times, stage materials in our workshop, and coordinate with trade partners. At the same time, we finalize logistics and create a schedule based on material availability and your preferred timing, factoring in permit timelines to avoid delays.

We don’t begin construction until all key materials are on hand and permits are approved, helping minimize downtime in your home and keeping the timeline as efficient as possible. Throughout this planning phase, we’ll stay in close communication and keep you updated every step of the way.

Preparing for Construction

Before construction begins, we’ll meet with you on-site to introduce your field crew and project management team. This is your chance to get familiar with who will be working at your home, and how communication and updates will be handled throughout the project.

We’ll also review logistics like dumpster and portable toilet placement, parking, access points, and your daily routines to minimize disruption. If timing is confirmed, we’ll also walk through the expected start date and project timeline. This meeting sets expectations and ensures everyone is aligned before work begins.

Bringing Your Vision to Life

With all planning complete, your dedicated field crew and project manager take charge as construction begins. We oversee daily operations, coordinate all trade partners, and execute each phase with precision and care, always respecting your home and routine.

Throughout the project, you’ll receive regular updates and check-ins to keep you fully informed. We’re available to address questions and discuss any on-site decisions as they arise. If changes are necessary, we’ll document them through clear Change Orders and communicate them promptly to ensure you’re always up to date.

Our focus is on delivering exceptional results while minimizing disruption and making the process as smooth and transparent as possible.

Ensuring Your Complete Satisfaction

Once construction is finished, we schedule a comprehensive final walkthrough with you to review every aspect of the project. This is your opportunity to inspect the work, ask questions, and identify any final touch-ups or adjustments needed.

Our team addresses any concerns promptly to ensure everything aligns with your expectations. We stand behind our work and won’t consider the project complete, or collect final payment, until you are 100% satisfied. This commitment guarantees a job well done and your total peace of mind.

After the project is complete, we remain available to support you with any questions or needs that arise, ensuring your home continues to look and perform at its best.
