Tom’s Bees

I’ve been a beekeeper for over 30 years, and bees continue to fascinate me. When my children were little, they helped tend the hives and sold jars of honey from a roadside stand by our house in Lincoln. They earned some pocket money, ate honey to their hearts’ content, and witnessed firsthand the power of cooperation and dedication. Bees are one of nature’s best examples of team players. They each have their role and do their share to contribute. There’s no doubt that my industrious bees have had a profound effect on me. Caring for them is demanding and they’re a no-nonsense bunch. Bees can’t survive without perfect synchronization, teamwork, and communication. They’ve got a routine, and I stick to it! Life in the hive provides lessons in persistence, organization and hard work—lessons I’ve taken to heart, both at home and in my business. Bees always do their part to make the world a better place, and I believe in always doing my part by being a good steward to the bees who depend on me, and by helping to service and support my local community.

Supporting the Local Community

At Tom Curren, it’s our business to create healthy and beautiful home environments, inside and out. We realize that our lives extend beyond our front doors, so the health of our local community impacts our homes and vice versa. We understand that even small actions will have a lasting impact on our environment and upon one another.

To do our part to support our local community, we are providing homeowners with resources and tips about living bee-friendly around their homes and in their yards. Making thoughtful decisions creates a healthier environment for us all to share. Working together, we will make a big difference.

TIPS ON HOW TO HELP PROTECT BEES IN YOUR YARD:

  • BEE MINDFUL about what you plant and choose flowers that attract bees.
  • BEE KNOWLEDGEABLE about what your lawn service puts on your lawn and opt for ecologically friendly practices.
  • BEE A GOOD GARDEN HOST by creating a bee bath.
  • BEE WARY of neonicotinoid insecticides and protect our pollinators.
  • BEE HAPPY you’ve done your part to protect our bees!
