Whether you are sprucing up an existing bathroom or working on a full remodel, the color scheme you select for your bathroom sets the tone for how you want to feel when in it. The following are tried and true, foolproof bathroom color schemes that cannot go wrong.
Yellow walls will add sunshine and energy to your wake up routine. A buttery yellow will give a nice glow to the room that does not get great natural light. Yellow walls pair well with a rustic oak vanity, white Carrera marble counters and crisp white trim work. Try Benjamin Moore’s Hawthorne yellow HC-4.
Cool blues and blue grays are reminiscent of natural elements such as the sky and the ocean. Light blue walls easily envelope a bathroom and induce a feeling of peacefulness, whereas, darker blue walls add an element of drama. Blues work well in multiple color schemes; light periwinkle blue looks fantastic with white beadboard, a white tile spread and polished chrome fixtures. Blue gray walls work well with a gray tile scheme and a dark espresso colored vanity. Navy or cobalt blue walls make a significantly bold statement against a stark white pedestal sink and white subway tiles. Try Benjamin Moore: Windmill Wings 2067-60, Blue Ice 821, Van Deusen HC-156.
Green or Aqua
Soft greens, often used in spas, evoke feelings of relaxation by helping to create a serene environment. Light green walls pair well with a rich mahogany vanity and beige natural stone countertops, along with brushed nickel fixtures. Try: Benjamin Moore: Salisbury Green HC-139, Leisure Green 2035-60.
A basic white wall or tile provides a blank canvas for adding bright colored accessories or a vibrant painted vanity. Using white on the walls is a great solution if you have a hard to match existing tile color. Bring in color with bright towels or a piece of multi colored artwork. If a white wall seems too stark for you, add an unexpected pop of color on the ceiling, such as pale blue. White walls look clean and fresh when teamed with just about any color vanity, white marble or porcelain counters and classic black and white hexagon or basket weave floor tile. Try Benjamin Moore: Decorator’s White or Chantilly Lace 0C-65.
Neutral walls can transform a bathroom into a sophisticated retreat. Neutral paint pairs well with natural stone flooring, limestone countertops, a dark vanity and oil rubbed bronze fixtures. Add in jewel toned towels and bath accessories in colors like pomegranate red, rustic orange or deep purple to break up the neutral walls. Try: Benjamin Moore Monroe Bisque HC-26, Quincy Tan HC-25 or Shaker Beige HC-45.
